dust

I have been blessed. At agape (my youth group)watched a video from Nooma, which is a ministry based out of Michigan (check out their website nooma.com), and it was a major blessing to me; so much so that I haven't stopped thinking about its message since Wednesday night.

Basically Rob Bell, the pastor of Nooma and can't be more than thirty, describes the calling of the disciples by Jesus and the implications of that. Now I knew most of this information before, but that's all it was-information. It didn't affect me as a disciple of Christ before like it did this time. Now having Jesus as my Rabbi and learning to know what he knows and do what he does has really opened my eyes in a way that I must have closed off before.

The idea of dust comes from the practice of Rabbis taking disciples and training them. Since they didn't have cars or mass transportation back in the day, they walked everywhere. Walking for a long time on a dirt road is dirty business and when you're following someone you get caked in whatever they kick up; therefore, it is a blessing to covered in the dust of your Rabbi. I've been mulling over what it means to be covered in the dust of my Rabbi since then, and I want to make an effort to live like that everyday. I would encourage to check out the video or the website, or just pick up the Bible and start learning to do what Jesus does.

Peace,
